One of my meetings got cancelled today and I decided to take that free time and pop in at one of my local occult shops. My experience with such places in Indianapolis have all been negative. I should have known better. But I was interested in maybe teaching classes or selling books on consignment. Ultimately, I would just really like to meet some more local people into magick.<\/p>\n
Lucky me, I get to overhear a conversation between the owner and one of her students. I should have had the balls to tell the guy to run the fuck out of there, but I was trying really hard to be nice. The guy asks her if she can recommend some books on Druidism. And her reply is, no. Don\u2019t read anything I don\u2019t give you in class. Don\u2019t go looking on the internet either.<\/p>\n
I could hear Thoth in my head,\u00a0\u201cWhat the fuck did she just day? Did she just tell this guy NOT to read a book?\u201d<\/p>\n
Seriously, if your guru ass is telling people to only read what you give them, get the fuck out of the occult now.<\/p>\n
I finally get a chance to talk to her. I was still nice. I was curious about the person teaching a Vodoun class there, and whether or not they were actually initiated. She danced around that question. Proceeded to tell me that I would have to take her Magick 101 class first, and then started blathering about the class. She brought up the subject of the Devil, and I shit you not, said that the concept of the Devil originated in the King James Bible.
