Terracotta Figure of Isis-Aphrodite

Roman Egypt (2nd Century AD)

The result of an amalgamation of the Egyptian goddess Isis and the Greek Goddess Aphrodite. She was concerned with childbirth, marriage and rebirth. She wears a calathos on her head emblazoned with the disk and horns of Isis. Figures of her are found in both domestic and funerary contexts.
