glitter witch: soloontherocks: glitterywitch: It’s very hard to hold America…
It’s very hard to hold America accountable for all the awful things we’ve done as a nation while still loving and revering my country as much as I do. I’m genuinely in love with America, especially my little patch of it. But I think loving something means…
The government is just made up of more people and there’s no rule that says they’re any more competent than the people who thought chocolate fountains at Golden Corral was a hygienic idea.
People are just people. People fail. Think about it, I bet you don’t disagree with a single ideal we trot out in America as “ours”. Equality, liberty, individual freedom, the ability to overcome the circumstances of your birth. That’s America. Everything else is just people fucking shit up and not living up to their own standards.
No, I understand that, but I don’t think we should separate our messes from America as a whole. Other Gods are imperfect. Ours are certainly flawed beyond belief.
I see where we’re disagreeing. I don’t consider America a God, just a spiritual entity to uphold and defend. Call it…call it, like, a spiritual goal. Like how Hellenics are supposed to strive for arete (excellence in all things). Or Kemetics and maat.
I’d look at it sort of like a poor abused little kitten I have to watch out for and assist and support so that one day it will grow up and become a lion.
