I long for the year that on September 11th, I don’t see my friend’s facebook icons change. I don’t hear a speech from the president. I am not told that “We Remember.”

What I long for, what I pray for, is that we forget.

Not the loved ones that were lost. Those always shall be mourned personally by their families as they should be.

But until we can forget, the nightmare will never end. This hellish perpetual war, that is once again driving us to kill innocent people. It is because of our inability to let go the death of 2,000 Americans that we have slaughtered hundreds of thousands of people, the vast majority of them innocent civilians.

I don’t think I will see it in my lifetime, but I can wish and dream. Will you make my dream of an America at peace come true? Can you stop reminding me? Can you forget and forgive?
