2 of 2 Is there any written references to the workings of the Knights of Chaos or similar esoteric groups that I should check out or is best to try and contact people involved directly to learn more as to not strip the group of their power of secrecy?

magicalrecord:

It’s actually not too big of a secret. The Knights of Chaos are organized through Peter J. Carroll’s site, Arcanorium College: http://www.arcanoriumcollege.com/

Lots of other great stuff there too. Email the Chancellor. At one time he was allowing a free month to try it out. He may still do so.

As far as the IOT is concerned, all I can say is that if you are in North America, go to: http://iota.thanateros.org/news.php. Internationally, try: http://www.thanateros.org/ and pick the closest IOT. It looks like the websites are dead. They are not. Someone actually does respond, but it does take time. If you are interested in joining, fill out the application thoroughly and honestly. Take your time. They are interested in people with creativity and dedication, not people who think they are bad-ass magicians. It doesn’t hurt to get started on Liber MMM (the first chapter of Liber Null & Psyconaut) http://paranormal.se/article/Liber_MMM.pdf

As far as being in the hinterland goes, I know your feels. Even living in the 10th largest city in the US (Indianapolis), I still have to drive at least five hours to attend temple meetings. Not much organized chaos magick out there (no, that’s not a contradiction in terms).

Don’t feel bad about only having a few sources to work with. Chaos magick is only a base “technology.” It’s a system to focus what you bring to it. Doing the magick is the important part.

That being said, being able to participate in group ritual has been great for me. Your experience may vary.
