Fear & Gnosis

the-swamprat:

I feel like we talk about a lot of forms of gnosis pretty frequently but I wanted to talk real quick about fear as a form of gnosis.

I guess, I don’t know. The feeling of complete and utter fear is the single most gnosis generating emotion, or state, I guess, that I experience. Ever. Rage gets me pretty close honestly, but I think it’s like a fight or flight thing, right? Like I can pursue that rage and use it to my advantage, but the thing about fear in this specific sense though, is that, to keep going, you have to act against every fucking instinct in your body and it’s so fucking hard and absolutely terrifying, and your brain is just like “what the actual fuck are you doing right now you goddamned fool”

I think either a ton of people one this website either don’t talk about how absolutely terrifying some of the things we work with can be, or they’re all just fearless or something. But yeah, like, I’ve never been as scared of anything else in my life as I’ve been of certain rituals/workings and their outcomes. But what I’ve found is that in the instances when I do become consumed by fear, and then keep working through it, those are often the most productive sessions and outcomes that I have. Many times the most prophetic as well.

I don’t know, I really just wrote this because I was thinking about it earlier but I’m also curious what others thoughts on this are as well.

There is no initiation without fear.
