Selections from the Golden Dawn Notebooks by W.B. Yeats

The Order of the Golden Dawn, which WBY joined on 7 March 1890, was a society dedicated to the study of Rosicrucianism and ritual magic. (Rosicrucianism was a seventeenth century movement, based on Christianity, which gave rise to several secret organizations devoted to alchemy, mysticism, and esoteric spiritual beliefs).

The Order evolved an elaborate system of symbols and rituals and also an elaborate hierarchy — members studied and underwent examinations to move from level to level. They used Tarot cards to prognosticate about the future, performed magical ceremonies to access archetypes and in some instances deities, and engaged in the practice of magic.

During the 1890s, the organization, which was based in London, had over 300 members. These included WBY, his uncle George Pollexfen, Maud Gonne, Florence Farr, Annie Horniman  and Georgina Hyde-Lees, who later became WBY’s wife.

“This figure is reproduced here because the Egyptian Thoth is the equivalent of the Grecian Hermes and the Roman Mercury, the true Grand Master of All Symbolic Lodges. From the earliest Masonic manuscripts we see Hermes represented as the ideal of the Master of the lodge and in some traditions is even said to be the founder of Masonry.” – Rex R. Hutchens – A Bridge To Light – pg. 167

While working within the Tree of Life, I have been shown many, many (sometimes too many) things that helps explain what exactly the Tree of Life does or is. How it functions to the best of my limited human mind and comprehension. This last week has been an increasingly difficult week of lessons because of the complexity of how a single word can be used to describe energy and how it flows and is sent up and down the Tree, This word was Line. How energy always flows within a line, is manipulated always within lines and is raised and lowered within lines. Even a sphere of energy conforms to the physical laws of lines. it increases &/or decrees within an axis on a line. I’m no math or physics student but i know enough to say this is probably true. i’m also no mechanic, but I know enough to realize that when shown how the energy flows up and down the Tree and more correctly within the Spheres themselves it is like the gear shaft of a transmission. Each path connecting to a certain gear to either raise the energy and transfer it up or to lower it and send it down the Tree. Each path and sphere is connected via these “bands” of energy that flow along the paths which also raise or lower the energy as the pass along the pathways own gearing system. In essence, the pathways are like the transmission systems, changing the energy’s “gears” so-to-speak. Once in the sphere the sphere also changes the energies either back up the path or back down, depending on the requirement of the energy. Seeing now how the Tree of Life now resembles that of a transmission system, it makes it more easier to see how this all works and flows. Mind you, i am not a good artist but this is as close as i could get to a working idea on how i saw what i was shown.   Any questions, feel free to ask, or laugh at em for this.. I’m use to it …

I am not a woman. I am an inferno, I am a tempest. I am venom and fangs and claws. I am lightning and starlight, and I am hell in high heels.
