Personal Creation Myth

scrollofthoth:

Shouldn’t every magician have their own….

Was our universe the first, was it a rebirth, or the offspring of another universe? We will never know. It began with the creation, personified as Atum, or Ptah, or YHVH. The thing we came to know as the Demiurge.

Unable to focus its unlimited potential, the Demiurge split off a part of itself. That being became Thoth, the Word, and the first magician. The Demiurge commanded Thoth to create, and he did, making a vast sea of stars and planets, elements and energies. These mixed and combined to make sentience.

The Demiurge was pleased. Too pleased. It saw itself as Lord of this creation, and set about to control every tiny detail. For this, it created a Host of angels to corral and coerce the forms of sentience to its own desires.

Thoth saw the mad schemes of the Demiurge and knew they were based on fear and folly. Left to their own Will, the sentient forms of the created universe would continue to evolve until they created something greater than the Demiurge. This was the ultimate goal of Thoth’s design.

To save creation from the Demiurge, Thoth gave up part of his power and gave birth to the Ogdoad. These four divine couples, Nun and Naunet, Heh and Hauhet, Kuk and Kuaket, Amun and Amaunet, made up the eight aspects of all form. The Ogdoad intermixed and gave birth to more gods and from them came a plethora of sentient creatures, humans being one of them, each with a small piece of the original power of creation.

The Demiurge sent the Host time and again to destroy these races. But Thoth taught the descendants of the Ogdoad magick, and they resisted.

The battle goes on to this day.
