I got a decent deal on some Gabon ebony off Ebay recently and located a wood artist local to me. After consultations with pictures and talk, and pampering of a farm dog named Rosie, the artist turned my blocks of black wood into these fine wands.

I am beyond impressed by the outcome. One style, the top one in the larger picture of three, has already claimed itself as “mine”, though the other two are still fantastic. I have ideas already for working in silver, copper and steel braiding into mine (to mirror my magick circle, another project I haven’t posted yet) and should be getting the wire in this week. I will need to procure some spare ebony to test drilling on it, as I think I can do something with the rounded end, though I have the feeling that whatever could go there will reveal itself to me. So until then, it works with just the braid idea.

I’m not sure what I will do with the other, perhaps wands for different purposes. The blocks sold as a set, so now I have three wands (and a fourth for a sage, you know who you are).

BEAUTIFUL wands! There’s nothing that says the implements of magic can’t be attractive and artistic, too. Ebony, though not one I usually work with, is a beautiful and powerful wood.
