Here is an idea. Since you don’t have a problem giving away your writing why not do it in a way that draws people back to your site. For instance release a short story in small sections (appropriately titled i.e. “Part 1 of 13”) so that people get caught up in the story and check out your site for the previous or later versions.

That’s part of the reason why My Babylon was serialized. I’m not sure if driving traffic to my website is the way to go, but it doesn’t hurt.
