Lilith ~ the shadow of my soul by

The name Lilith is derived from the Assyrian-Babylonian word for LILITU, meaning “Wind Spirit”.

Lilith can be found in Sumerian, Babylonian, Assyrian, Canaanite, Persian, Hebrew, Arabic and Teutonic mythology. The earliest archeological evidence is a Terra cotta relief from Sumer, circa 1950 BC, depicting a nude and meditative (closed eyes), winged female standing tall, holding a rod and ring in each open hand, and with raptor-talon feet stands atop a pair of lioness’, accompanied by an owl on each side of her.

In this Relief, in no way does she look or appear evil, in fact she looks as if she is meditating along with a pair of lionesses, who represent strength, power and femininity to face fears with inner strength and love. Lion is also symbolic to lessons and issues dealing with community, the rising of feminine powers of creativity, intuition and imagination within the pride, as a cooperative effort to avoiding confrontation, using stealth in non-violent communication and asserting to the strangulation of anger in self and others. Her clawed (holding on/energy) feet, her grounding balance are vital to conducting energy, to balancing and healing the body. Her nude body is totally open and exposed, she is not hiding who or what she is and her wings give her the freedom to soar to new heights, with no limitations. The rods she holds, would be depicted by her demonizes as sticks for punishment, by beating, however rods were also considered scepters, as well as a measurement for 5 1/2 yards (2 rods = 11 yards or 33 feet), numerological, 33 is a Spiritual Teacher, master number or double trinity. The rings are representative of promise, an eternal perspective, or the “Ring of Truth”. The coiled helmet she wears, resembles a snake or the kundalini power; life force, creative energy and healing power within, either depicting the awakening or continuing of spiritual growth. The pair of owls, who represent the mystery of magic, silent wisdom and vision through the darkness of the unknown. Owls are usually protectors, as in the guardian of Acropolis; they also only mate when they truly trust the other.

How were all these demons born of this depiction?

I will inspire others to view the feminine, by lighting the way and reflecting the archetypal Lilith, in a new, more positive light…feel what it is to be a woman, just as our ancestors’ did in the Full Moon’s light, to hold the mystery of life and death, as mothers, daughters, wives, sisters, aunts, cousins, grandmothers, stepmothers, nieces, lovers, friends, healers, confidants, listeners, counselors, babysitters and observers. We can be proud to announce our passions, asking for respect, while believing we deserve it and receiving the abundance ‘creative/intuitive imagination energy’ really has to offer.

The sacred feminine within, gives us the power to face challenge with strength, courage and clarity. Guiding and protecting us every step of the way, bringing us into alignment with personal power and Universal truth.

This is it…
