‘The Beast with Ten Horns and the Beast’ with the Lamb Horns by Matthias Gerung, ca. 1530-1532
Month: April 2013
These are the first, speculative rough drafts for an idea I had to create cards that represent the pieces from Enochian Chess, also called Rosicrucian Chess, as described in the material of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn.
These cards might be decorated with images in the open space of each card by various artists, or a set might be produced using illustrations by just one artist interpreting them all. I suppose cards could be used for some, as yet, unknown card game if they had uniform backs. But primarily, I think, these would be printed with sides mirrored and placed in stands, so they were held upright, and used as pieces on an Enochian Tablet for a proper game, or divination.
These five cards represent the four elemental Kings along with the extra Ptah piece which is used only in divination. Each displays the flashing colour and attribution of the corresponding element, Tarot correspondence where appropriate, a glyph showing which chess rank it is, and the name of the piece in Latin and Coptic characters.
Liber AL vel Legis
Hermetic Library fellow T Polyphilus reviews The Book of the Law: Liber Al Vel Legis by Aleister…
He thing should be reviewed like any other magical text. Sadly, it is not.
On April 5, 2010, WikiLeaks released the classified Collateral Murder video to the public.
The video shows an Apache helicopter indiscriminately firing on a dozen people, including two Reuters staff, in Baghdad. Later in the footage, rescuers, including two children, were also targeted.
The footage was leaked to WikiLeaks by Pfc. B. Manning, who has been in prison for 1046 days. Manning’s detention conditions have been found to be “cruel, inhuman & degrading” by UN Special Rapporteur on Torture Juan E. Mendez.
“The most alarming aspect of the video to me was the seemingly delightful bloodlust the aerial weapons team happened to have.” – Manning
