The Demon Gusion

Gusion
aka: Gusoyn, Gusoin, Gusayn
Rank: Duke
Legions: 40
Strongest: Middle of May
Demon Summoning: Daytime, yellow candles, lead (metal), aloe

Above all other things, the demon Gusion is a diplomat. As one of the Dukes of the demon spirit world, he is known to be a blunt, but honest speaker. He seems to take his role of intermediary between the spirit world and the living very seriously, and will answer all questions as long as they are related to his particular skills and interests.

If Gusion were a human, he would be a master of public relations. He can turn even the most hated people into the most beloved and can grant high-level honors, awards, and positions to those who are dedicated to him. He likes to be straight to the point and doesn’t like to waste time talking about things that are irrelevant to his line of work. Like many demons, he has the power to see into the past and future, but once again will only bother doing so if it is relevant to the task at hand or the specific questions being asked.

There are a few different descriptions of his appearance. In ancient texts he is said to look like a baboon, while those who have summoned and spoken with Gusion believe that he looks more like a bright, blue-ish creature with a narrow eyes and mouth. In every case he always wears a long robe and has a calm and peaceful demeanor. There is usually a bright light appearing with him, making it hard to make out the finer details of his appearance.

It is interesting to note that Gusion is also described in the ancient texts as sometimes having the appearance of a “Xenophilus". Wikipedia (among other sources) connects this directly to the ancient Greek philosopher and musician Xenophilus, but this is innaccurate. The “Xenophilus" in reference is the blue-ish, narrowed-eyed creature that looks much like what we think of as a modern-day extraterrestrial. Also interesting is that the root word “xeno" means “alien".

Though he appears in a bright, blue light one should only burn yellow candles when summoning Gusion, and would do best to make their summoning circle directly on a dirt ground, rather than on an artificial indoor floor.

Seagrave adds that “Gusion appears in the guise of a mture and strong man in a saffron robe. He speak softly and his advice always seems good in consequence.“

The Max Headroom broadcast signal intrusion was a television signal hijacking in Chicago, Illinois, on the evening of November 22, 1987. It is an example of what is known in the television business as broadcast signal intrusion. The intruder was successful in interrupting two television stations within three hours. Neither the hijacker nor the accomplices have ever been found or identified.

Thats some creepy stuff o.o

I would like to point out this jack-ass did interrupt Dr. Who on channel 11. He could of picked a different show. Though to be fair, Dr. Who was the highest rated show on 11 at the time.

Yes, I’m that old.

I finally got my camera to work, so here are some pictures of my altar to Loki! The image quality is not the greatest because this is an old digital camera that hasn’t been quite right since it fell into a creek with me a few years ago.

The first image shows the entire set-up. Yes, that is a picture of Marvel!Loki. I saw it from across the dealer room at a convention earlier this year and knew immediately that it had to come home with me. Although I’m a huge Avengers fan, that was honestly the furthest thing from my mind. It just felt right. I never found the right place for it until I started setting up the altar. (I wish I could remember the artist’s name; I’d love to see more of her work!) In front of it is my stone oil burner, which held peppermint oil at the time the picture was taken.

You can’t see it in the picture, but there’s also a clay box (with lid) that I made to hold food offerings.

The Q action figure at the opposite end of the altar represents Loki for me. I don’t feel much of a connection with any of the statues that I’ve considered, but to me, this makes perfect sense. YMMV. The small, plastic box in front of him is full of iridescent lucky stars. There’s also a set of chimes that I used to wear all the time during my hippie days in high school.

In the second picture, you can see the main part of the altar, which sits on a stepstool that my grandfather made for me when I was a toddler. I made the altar cloth from a piece of fabric that my partner gave me. I also made the Yggdrasill incense burner and the raven, which is representative of Loki’s connection with Odin, and I painted the miniature of the Urnes snakes at the back. The clear stone near the raven is Iceland spar, which is the sólarsteinn referred to in medieval Icelandic texts.

Other item of interest: the black stone beside the incense burner is onyx. When I’m at home, it sits on the altar to “recharge", as it were. I carry it in my pocket whenever I go out as a tangible link to Loki and to my sacred space.
