Paul Vs the Vampire – Coming soon 07-31-2013. A tongue-in-cheek love novella about a normal boy who meets and falls in love with a vampire:
More kisses landed between us and soon I was straddling him, the steering wheel eating into my back. The windows steamed, the car interior stayed hot despite the bone chilling temperatures. We tugged off my coat, jeans, shirt and finally the black boxer-briefs, laughing when I banged my elbow on the stick. I attempted to pry at his clothes next. He stopped me, lips moist.
“Just you, I want to please only you, to watch you.”
His expression blew over initial protests.

I’m sure you’re done with volume 6 by now, but I thought I’d ask some clarification on the paradigm you work in. Is your view of the Goetia completely different from the traditional view, where these entities are Qlippothic forces with a dangerously parasitic nature that needs to be kept in check by invoking archangels and Jehovah? I noticed you included Goetic invocations in your banishing ritual, without any restraints or additional banishing afterward.
Book 6 is in the editing process and should be done next week.
To make things clear, even though I bill the book as based on real life magical practices, it is still first and foremost a story. So I do gloss over the preparation and banishing that goes on before and after most people perform goetic rituals. Also, I wanted to portray the main character, Mike/Legio, as reckless and arrogant.
How do I feel about goetic entities in my own practice? For a long form answer, check out “Demons” on the Scroll of Thoth webstite.
Short form, yes, they are parasitic and dangerous, but they are also necessary and can be a well-spring of power and inspiration. How can you say you’ve experienced life if you’ve never gone off the rails? For me, they are entities that must be constantly watched and kept in check, but should still be treated with respect and not dismissed as something totally “evil”. In the words of Carl Jung:
Filling the conscious mind with ideal conceptions is a characteristic of Western theosophy, but not the confrontation with the shadow and the world of darkness. One does not become enlightened by imagining figures of light, but by making the darkness conscious.
I do personally make sure to perform lots of banishing when approaching demons in a goetic way. Note the specification there.
Now, as far as keeping them in check with archangels and Jehovah, well I’ve have my differences with the Host. Something I should probably get over, but for now, I won’t be calling on them for aid.
I do use entities from the goetia as my guardians. I think they work fine in that respect, and I believe how you use them makes a big difference in how they behave. This may seem counter-intuitive, but if you want to use goetic entities as guardians and in other work besides goetia, pick ones you’re not intimately familiar with. Let them be simply representations of power, and not creatures born or fed from you.
Thanks for the questions and thank you for reading.

July for Loki
Devotees all over the world are going to create works of art, music, poetry, essays, recipes—basically whatever you can think of—in the name of Loki, and for Loki. We’re doing it to show people why we worship Him, and in how many different ways He has inspired, saved, enriched, blessed, overwhelmed us.
We’re (at least I am) also doing it to build a body of cult, for an ancient Being in modern times. For a couple of weeks, we’re turning our online places into a distributed shrine to Loki. I hope it is going to be beautiful.
I’d like to do something for this, but I’m not sure what… I know that I won’t have the energy to keep up with something daily, but maybe once a week…
If you follow the link, you’ll see that I am “only" going to be posting once a week, too—-I think that it’s perfectly proper and lovely and doesn’t mean you’re less devoted or anything 🙂
Also, there’s things you can do (because I’ve seen proof of it), and I know you’re not into food offerings (like, at all), but recipe offerings are a different beast! because that way you can outsource your food offerings! Hey, I’d even offer a cooperation, post a recipe each week, and I’ll cook and make the offering 😀
Holy crap! I’ve been seeing Loki a lot more lately and my need to create art has more than spiked. I even told my uncle about it haha. In definitely going to dedicate something special to him.. I knew all my faces looked familiar :3
Druid. Prompt was “tree” I had a lot of fun working on a creature again! I don’t do it enough these days!
Three images of magic and Gothic decay from the third part of Raphael’s The Astrologer of the Nineteenth Century. Most of the more interesting material here, such as the conjuration of Oberon/Oberion, seems to have been ‘borrowed’ from the manuscripts of Frederick Hockley.
