Writing About Magick

I’m seriously considering starting a non-fiction series about ceremonial magick. I would probably start with an in-depth book on the Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram, which would include:  reasons for doing it, history, symbolism, an actual step-by-step guide to performing the ritual, and some alternate rituals that are similar (example – Star Ruby).

I’m still not totally sold on doing the project and would appreciate some input. Here are my pros and cons.

Con: I don’t feel like I’m an expert when it comes to magick and fear my own inadequacy.

Pro: I do feel I’m a pretty good writer and that I understand the craft of writing better than most people who write about magick.

Con: Tons of people have done this before.

Pro: I have never seen anyone do a thorough and comprehensible step-by-step.

Con: I fear a perceived (perhaps rightfully so) lack of authority on the subject. I’m not a high-mukity-muk in any magical organization. All I have under my belt is this blog and a podcast.

Pro: People may appreciate the perspective of learning-along with someone. I am closer to the novice point of view than some others.

I am open to any and all criticisms.
