ATTENTION TRANSGENDER AND TRANS ALLIES!
Gold’s Gym wants you to, “conform like everyone else.”
This morning, Dan Shrum went to Gold’s Gym on Washington St. in Indianapolis for his usual workout. For safety reasons, and because he has yet to legally change his gender, he used the women’s locker room. Just like he’s done many times before and has been told by management it is perfectly acceptable.
Today when he went in, a female customer ran out. When Dan came out of the locker room, he was confronted by Gold’s Gym employee, Robert. Robert told him, yelling in front of twenty other customers, that it’s “inappropriate” for him to use that locker room.
Dan explained his situation and offered to show his ID that says female.
Instead, the employee demanded to see Dan’s membership badge, and told him, “You should shave your beard. Why can’t you people conform like everyone else?”
We think every trans person and ally should let Gold’s Gym know this is inappropriate, and that we will boycott and tell our friends to boycott Gold’s Gym until they apologize and convince us that they treat all LBTGQ members with respect.
