A fish sees 2 separate objects, i.e.  man’s legs under water, and doesn’t realise the legs are parts of one body. Similarly to a person observing different objects in time and not realising that they are  connected to one invisible transcendental body.

IOT hasn’t responded yet.  That’s okay.

I joined the DKMU site/forums/etc.  I will probably become active on their IRC cuz Ellis is very important to me.

The community ritual is tonight.  I expect it to go well but we will see if it doesn’t.  I am prepared for anything.  As long as the people going follow instructions it will be chill.  Everyone putting their energies together to do stuff is awesome.  I’ll do a full write-up of it after it happens.

Give it time, brother. It may take them a few months.

thoughts on chaos magicians, the whole “belief is a tool” thing?

thetwistedrope:

So I don’t really have a lot of thoughts on either of these, I don’t think?

Chaos magic isn’t something I really participate in, and it’s not really my thing (what little I”ve seen of it). I personally don’t think it would be very effective for me, because it pretty much goes against everything I typically do in terms of magix. But if it works for other people, more power to them.

Belief is another tool in the tool box. One that can be useful, but isn’t always the best tool for the job. I think that belief and intent have their place in witchcraft, but they arent’ the be all and end all, and they’ll only carry you so far.

Beyond that, idk that I Have a lot of thoughts either way, tbh >.>;

Hope nobody minds if I field this. Chaos Magick is essentially a system of techniques that can be applied to any belief system. They are a refinement of ancient and tried and true practices that produce results. Some chaos magicians choose to apply those techniques to varying belief systems, changing as they see fit. Others, borrow or create belief systems that call to them, and stay with them long term.

For me, magick without the use of practiced and focused ability, what those chaos magick techniques are all about, is pretty pointless. I’ve never understood the concept of “spell” as a recipe. Producing consistent results requires exercising and focusing one’s magical ability, not just following instructions.

I am personally a devotee of Thoth. He has called to me. Thoth understands that magick does not sit still. The “technology” behind magick has advanced over the years. I don’t see myself turning away from Thoth and adopting belief systems on a whim, but some people do, and produce results.

Does that help?
