Read any book the teacher has written. The first day, the
day before the midterm, the midterm, the day before the final, and the final
are the most important classes to pay attention in, and brush up on your basic
writing skills (See Strunk & White’s Elements of Style).

Don’t be afraid to use your creativity. You may not think it
is relevant, but you would be surprised how many disciplines are influenced by
the arts. Also, spend some time alone every once in a while to keep yourself
sane.
