What has worked for me….
Keep meditating and listening.
Be a writer. Thoth is the god of writing. Learn to love words and actually study the craft of writing. You can write anything–poetry, a novel, non-fiction–it doesn’t matter. Just give yourself to the power of words.
You should study ancient Egyptian spell work, but that doesn’t need to be your path. Thoth is also the god of magick. All magick pleases Thoth. It could be witchcraft, or shamanism, or hermetic magick. I always encourage a wide range of study, but practice the magick that feels right to you.
An altar to Thoth could be as simple as a pen and some ink. I always keep a pen and ink on my altar. A statue would be nice, but you can build up slowly. Just talk to him, and remember to be respectful, but don’t feel the need to be too formal. He has a sense of humor.
The ancient prayer, from the scrolls of Ani, “I am thy writing palette, oh Thoth, and I have brought unto thee thine ink jar,” seems to get his attention. I say it at least three times per day.
Praise Thoth! And thanks for reaching out. I hope this helps.
