Magick node grids
Hello! In my own magical practice I use what I would call “grids”. They look something like this:
The practice and idea of construction, casting, and working with and within circles has been a common presence within the community of witches for years. The circle represents the basic form of fluid wholeness; with no angles or corners, no end or beginning. It represents a great deal to many witches in this community and I come to you today to show you my circle grid construction for a whole slew of spells with as many purposes as one can think up.
I know, its a lot to look at. but dont worry, well break it down. Here is your basic construction.
The basic construction of these circles is fairly simple, made up of eight parts.
1. The outer circle(green)
The Outer circle is there to keep all energies outside of the circle, with the exception of the power source.
2. The inner circle(red)
The inner circle helps to hold all desired energies inside of the grid, keeping everything nice and tidy.
3. A power source(indigo)
The power source is whatever you want it to be, and yes I do mean whatever. More on why to and ways to power your grid later
4. The power source path(indigo)
The power source path leads from the power source to the central circle, touching both the inner and outer circle, then it flows through the node paths to the nodes themselves. The nodes are powered last as to make sure everything is ready to go before the actual infusion starts
5. A central circle(teal)
The central circle is where you place the object that will be filled with the desired aspects. It could be a talisman, a poppet, a tag lock, a token, or even yourself.
6. Removal(pink) / infusion(blue) nodes
These hold items of the aspects that you wish to place in the object. For example, maybe a small bottle of black salt in one, rose thorns in another, and then for the final item place a small vial of basil. In the center you place a necklace you wear everyday. The protective aspects are pushed into the necklace from the nodes. This process works in reverse for the removal nodes. Say you have an item of silver that you would like to use on your altar but you don’t know where it came from. So you place it in the center and in the removal nodes you place three pieces of blank paper, or three stones, three crystals, etc. the past and energy the item carried is removed.
7. The node pedestals
The node pedestals are where you place the items within the node. They are able to follow the lines to the central circle and node.
8. The node paths (3)
Each node has three paths to which the attributes follow.
You won’t need all nodes for all spells. there is a chance for you to have a basic removal, and basic infusion grids. Like these:
So why power your grid? Is it absolutely necessary?
No, you don’t have to use a power source, and to be honest I don’t even use a power source all the time. It’s completely fine to not use one, but the power source always gives my spells an extra boost and helps me visualize the energies Im working with. Energy is something put into all spells, and in my case and for me, I like to have a direct path for my energy to flow as i take the energy from one thing and put it into another, be that the universe or the flame of a candle. In reality anything can be a power source, from the sun to the earth to the stars. It all depends on what you want to power the ritual. The energy from the sun for warmth and fiery passion, energy from the moon for cool strong power. Some things you can use are:
- Yourself
- Simply sit in the power source circle and put your own energy into the grid.
- The sun
- My personal method of utilizing the sun is to place something black in the power source, or a statue of it, and build the grid in the sun.
- The moon
- My method for the moon is to simply place something white in the grid, or a statue of it, and build the grid in the moon.
- A candle
- A bowl of water
- A bowl of earth
- Incense
Although they seem limited, you can place things just inside the circle without placing them in the nodes. An example: just placing a placeholder for the goddess aphrodite inside the circle while asking her to be present in the ritual will still have an effect.
They’re incredibly versatile, easily personalized, and easy to master. Go forth and create! just credit me for my idea, please!
With love and well wishes,
