Why the fuck not? Why not do whatever you want? Practice however you want? Is it “insulting” to the practitioners of that religion? I’m insulted by the Joss Whedon portrayal of Loki, but I don’t think he shouldn’t be allowed to do it. It’s just like banning a book. If you don’t like how I’m doing it, don’t fucking watch me do it.
This is not the same as wearing a “Mexican” costume on Halloween. These people have no intention of belittling or marginalizing someone else’s faith. In most instances, they’re honoring it.
