so I’m NeoWiccan because long story short I’m a fierce duothiest, believing in a God and Goddess as complimentary opposites. Anyways, i have also this deep, deep, deep love for Jesus, and Mary, and all of the saints and practices associated with all forms of Catholicism. (Orthodoxy, RC, Anglican Communion, etc etc) and I want to do devotion to Yahweh, etc.. i have a *strong* relationship there. but i cant give up my Goddess. I cant give up my duothiesm. Help! this is a such a big issue for me :(

You are absolutely unable to become a Catholic who honors the Wiccan Goddess.

It is in direct opposition of the Church to do so.

There is no point in joining a group whom you wish to change a fundamental belief of.

Yahweh’s laws also demand that He is worshiped above all other entities. Therefore, it is likely that you would be unable to uphold His laws, even outside of the Church, unless you willingly placed the Wiccan Goddess as a figure below Him.

You are certainly able to love and admire Him while staying a Neo-Wiccan, but you will not be able to devote yourself to Him as a Catholic and continue your practices.

Ignoring the Church, it’s against scripture.

God is One.

One.

Not two. Not 1.5. Not 1 +/- x left up to the individual.

God. Is. One.

Henotheistic Monolatry is the realm of Christianity and Judaism. Islam is Monotheistic/latric.

God is also male and female at the.same time. That’s been lost overtime, so in some respect, it’s not wrong if you associated god as male and female and worship both halfs separately. It really depends on how you relate God to the God and how you transalate the ten commandments.

No.

You cannot worship them separately.

The closest you can come to that, and it’s basically the origin of the concept of the Trinity, is the notion of “feminine” Sephira within Qabbalah.

Can and should is the sticking point here.

No. You neither can, nor should you. God is indivisible. You cannot worship the complexity of God in some fragmentation of His essence.

The simple fact is that that doesn’t stop people it hasn’t stopped people for centuries.

Oh? I’ll sit here and wait while you show me a prevalent religious denomination or sect of Jews, Christians, or Muslims that fragments God in the manner you demonstrate and creates a duality out of the One God.

I’m not saying this isn’t theologically correct, but you do know this is why people see monotheistic religions as intolerant dick bags.

Yes, such intolerance to not want someone to bastardize your religion.

How about I just come into Wicca and choose not to worship the Lord and the Lady?

How about I just come in and only worship Satan?

And I tell everyone that I’m a Wiccan because I want to be?

Let’s see who turns into an ‘intolerant dick bag,’ then.

Umm okay.

“I don’t believe anything, but I have many suspicions.”

“belief is the death of intelligence.”

“ …when dogma enters the brain, all intellectual activity ceases.”

Henotheistic Monolatric*

And regardless, to insist on dividing God, who is genderless, into a duality of forces a la Wicca is ridiculous, given the gender-fluidity of the trinity between the The Father (Masculine) and the Holy Spirit (Feminine), which are interpretations which have existed since the Apostles and is something found as well in Judaism.

It’s a vain and unnecessary whim.

Some biblical scholars believe that Asherah at one time was worshiped as the consort of Yahweh, the national God of Israel.[10] There are references to the worship of numerous gods throughout Kings, Solomon builds temples to many gods and Josiah is reported as cutting down the statues of Asherah in the temple Solomon built for Yahweh.

I’m glad mushrooms are against the law, because I took them one time, and you know what happened to me? I laid in a field of green grass for four hours going, “My God! I love everything.” Yeah, now if that isn’t a hazard to our country … how are we gonna justify arms dealing when we realize that we’re all one?

so when we gonna talk about how western imperialism and colonialism plays an extremely large role in this

Hawaiian language was almost extinct because America made it a law to cut all Hawaiian language from public school when they illegally annexed Hawaii and thus making Hawaiian parents feel their children won’t make it in the world so they stopped speaking Hawaiian to their kids and forbid them to learn it (giving spankings if heard at home etc) and making English the default language.

wait but wouldnt it be good if all the world spoke just one language?

short answer: no. there are so many nuances and differences in language (see how there often is no direct translation) that something would be lost if we all spoke the same one. you can’t ignore the cultural ties either wtf.

My aunt and uncle co-direct linguistlist.org and basically went around the world documenting dying languages before they actually go extinct. Like, they would actually talk to the elders of cultures who were the last remaining people to speak a particular dialect of a language and get as much information as possible.

So yeah lots of languages are dying off.

A language is not just a way to communicate. It’s a unique perspective on the human condition. It’s a way of describing the world that can never be duplicated.
